The Challenger teams are fortunate to have a staff of dedicated coaches who challenge them to give their all to the glory of God. Taking time before or after working a full day, this devoted group of adults encourage and mold their teams into some of the best athletes in the league and state.

Faculty Biographies

Ryan Allred      Return to Faculty Menu...      E-mail

Mr. Allred attended Westmont College, receiving a B.S. in Biology as well as meeting his wife, Rachel. He completed graduate work in Environmental Science at Western Washington University where he taught upper division lab courses for two years. Mr. Allred also owns and operates Adventure Whitewater; a Christian based rafting business in Northern California during the summer. He is in his fourth year at CCHS teaching math, Ecology and serving as basketball and golf coach.

 

Sherri Beeler      Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

Miss Beeler teaches Literature, Honors English Classes, Paper Arts and Reading for Pleasure at Cascade where she has served for 16 years. She has a BA from Northwestern College and a Masters Degree from California Lutheran University. Miss Beeler has directed past drama productions and coordinates a yearly publication of student work through the Creative Writing Club.

Mr. Bennet holds a BA in Biology, California State University, Dominguez Hills, CA. Mr. Bennett teaches Biology, Anatomy & Physiology,  and Intro to Physics. He has served at CCHS nine years, after teaching in public and private schools in California for nineteen years.

 

Bruce Booker     Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

Mr. Booker serves as Dean of Boys and teaches AP Chemistry. He has been at Cascade for 14 years. Prior to CCHS, Mr. Booker worked for the University of Idaho in the field of diagnostic bacteriology. He has a BS from Northwest Nazarene University, a Masters from Western Oregon University and did additional graduate work at Idaho State in microbial physiology.

Mr. Bruce has been teaching  Health, P.E., History, Government and Economics, and Global Studies, at Cascade for twelve years.  He also served as Athletic Director. Mr. Bruce has a BS in Physical Education from Willamette University; MS, Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology, University of Arizona. He is a graduate of Crater High School.

 

Emilio Chavez      Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

Mr. Chavez teaches all levels of Spanish here at CCHS. He was born in Mexico and has been living in the area for four years. He is a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, SFL (Spanish Foreign Language), and ESL (English as a Second Language) from Universidad Michoacán a.  In the evenings he works for Head Start teaching an adult education program. Mr. Chavez worked for a year as an ESL Assistant at McLaughlin Middle School in Medford and fourteen years as a Spanish Teacher at Baden Powell Institute in Morelia, Mexico.

Mr. Clarke has been teaching Bible at Cascade for 8 years. He has a B.S. in Biblical Education from Mutlnomah School of the Bible and B.A. in Christian Ministries from George Fox College. He also recently earned his Master of Education from George Fox University. His daughters, Kelly and Aimee and his son, Josh are CCHS graduates. Mr. Clarke was a pastor with Village Missions, Inc. for seventeen years before working at CCHS.

Mrs. DeKoekkoek is in her 9th year at CCHS. She is a certified Educational Therapist with the National Institute of Development (NILD). She teaches an elective class that provides one-on-one help for the student with learning differences. She also offers academic testing. This is her 18th year of teaching. She taught previously at Bellevue Christian in Washington. Mrs. DeKoekkoek attended Dordt College receiving a BA in Education, and Seattle Pacific for her graduate work.

 

Chris T. Hillis     Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

BA, Sociology, Bridgewater State College, MA; Graduate courses, Southern Oregon University and Portland State University 

Mr. Hillis has taught Grammar, Composition, Media Analysis and Social Science classes at CCHS for six years.  Prior experience includes three years as a counselor and classroom teacher in an alternative school in Boston; co-founder and co-director of a private, non-profit corporation in Framingham, Mass. which contracted with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services to provide rehabilitative counseling services to troubled youngsters in suburban Boston; part-time copy editor at a local newspaper; copy editor for an independent writer and publisher in Rogue River; Adolescent Therapist at a facility for emotionally disturbed teenage boys in Grants Pass, County Director for a non-profit agency providing tutorial and general educational services to families who home-schooled their children.  Mr. Hillis enjoys officiating high school and college basketball games in his limited free time.

 

Jennifer Keller    Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

BA, Psychology, Azusa Pacific University

Mrs. Keller teaches Culinary Arts, Life Skills and Creative Living classes, and is the Dean of Girls at CCHS.  Prior experience includes substitute teaching at CCHS and in grades k-12 in the public school setting for several years.  She also worked on staff at Youth For Christ counseling unwed mothers, and in a Group Home in Southern California.

  

Debbie Knapp     Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

BS, Mathematics, MS Secondary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics, Southern Oregon University.

Miss Knapp has been at CCHS for 10 years. She teaches Geometry, Intro to Visual Basics, Physics, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. She has a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Secondary Education with an emphasis on mathematics from Southern Oregon University. Prior to coming to Cascade she taught at Rogue Community Colleg, New Hope Christian School, and North Valley. Miss Knapp coaches the Math Team.

BA, MA, Political Science, Arizona State University; MIM, ( Honors) International Business, Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management

Mr. Miller teaches Flyfishing as well as serving as the Director of Development. He began teaching at CCHS ten years ago after retiring from a career in international banking.  He taught Marketing at Elmhurst College in Chicago during his banking career and is a  former director of the California International Banker’s Association and former National Chairman of British American Chambers of Commerce in the US.  Mr. Miller was awarded the Bronze star for service as an Army Officer in Vietnam.

 

Lucy Milojevich      Return to Faculty Menu...    E-mail

Mrs. Milojevich  has BA, in Music Education from Willamette University and a MMEd in Music Education from Lewis & Clark College. Mrs. Milojevich has been teaching music at CCHS for fifteen years and also serves as our College/Career Counselor.  She produces all of our musical events, including the Christmas programs and the annual Cabaret. Prior experience includes  teaching vocal and instrumental music in the Parkrose School District, classroom elementary music in Beaverton School District, junior and senior high vocal and general music at Phil-Mont Christian Academy in Philadelphia,  and vocal music at Grants Pass High School.  She also taught private piano lessons.

Mrs. Morey has taught Computer Science for the past ten years and also serves as Yearbook Advisor at CCHS.  She has overseen the upgrading of the Computer Lab and now includes a class of Web Design and Digital Imaging.

BS, Business Administration and Education, Northwest Nazarene University 

Mr. Nye has taught Bible, Mathematics, and Social Science classes as CCHS for thirteen years following twenty-four years of teaching in Oregon, Idaho, and the Philippines.  He also has helped with the Sports Program, and continues to coach Softball and Basketball.

Art/Photography, Humboldt State University; BA, English, MA, Education, Southern Oregon University

Mrs. Rubus has taught Photography, Art, English Grammar and Composition, Speech and Journalism in her four years at CCHS.  Prior to her arrival at CCHS,  Mrs. Rubus taught reading part-time for fourteen years in the public schools as an assistant teacher.

BA, French, Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA 

Mrs. Scott currently teaches French 1 , 2 and 3.  She has worked at CCHS for seven years. In prior years at CCHS, she has taught German I, Spanish I, Journalism, Bible and Speech.

Before moving to Oregon, Mrs. Scott taught French and Spanish for seven years at Valley Christian High School in Dublin, CA.

Mrs. Spence is in her second year of teaching at CCHS, she earned a BA from Southern Oregon University. She comes to Cascade with 7 years teaching experience and received the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year award in 1998. She teaches electives at CCHS which include Fitness and Nutrition, Creative Living and Journalsim. In her free time she plays piano for her church and teaches Sunday School.
